What a quick day in London! The day has flown by and it is almost bed time to try and catch up on some sleep.
I landed in London today at 11:00am and bet up with fellow British Studies students and faculty. After some time at the airport waiting for other students to arrive, we all hoped on coaches and headed to Central London. The traffic was all ready pretty steady. I can never get over how the bus drivers drive. It is so impressive. It is really like you are riding the Knight Bus as your coach or double decker squeezes though parked cards, pedestrains, and other coaches. It is no secret that London traffic can be quite startling. If you are a pedestrian it is always wise to only cross at crosswalks when you have the little green man. Cars and coaches do not stop for jay walkers, sometimes it is like they even speed up.
Once we arrived to King's College, we all made our ways up to the room to settle in. I will have to take pictures of our rooms. They are small but nice and we each have our own bathrooms!
After putting our belongings in our room, Jessica and I decided it would be best to go for a walk to stay a wake. We ventured all around our dorms and even made our way down to the London Eye. By the London Eye is a spectacular view of Parliament and Big Ben.
After our stroll, we had neighborhood tours let my our professors. It was great to get a better feel for the area that surrounds us. There are 26 or 27 students in the LIS class, all of which are Masters Candidates. After our neighborhood tour, we had dinner and then had the evening to ourselves.
Laura, Jessica, Taylor, and I went to purchase our Oyster Cards. We then completed the evneing with a ride on the Tube to King's Cross Station and rode back to our dorms on a double decker bus!
It has been a wonderful first day back in my favorite city! I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings!
